Bio

Lancaster, Pennsylvania resident Brock Woerner has made a career playing and teaching drums. He currently leads the group Jazz Speak and freelances with other artists/ bands ranging through all genres of music. In addition to performing, he passes this knowledge and experience to his students at The Lancaster Musical Education Center, which Woerner opened in 2002.

Originally from Reading Pennsylvania, Brock began playing drums at age 5. Starting out self-taught and moved into studying privately and in the public school system, he began performing professionally at age 18 and states “My real education began on the bandstand” after 17 years of performing he has worked with over 30 groups/ artists in styles ranging from Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Reggae, Ska, and Latin music. It is that experience that Woerner has been passing on to students for 9 years as a drum instructor.

Woerner founded the group Jazz Speak in 2000 and after 5 years has enjoyed performing for audiences at the Berks Jazz Festival, Rehoboth Jazz Festival, Lancaster Jazz Festival, Bethlehem Musik Fest, Longs Park Summer Concert Series, FM 92.7 VIP performances, CPFJ opening for George Coleman, appeared on Comcast Tonight, and received airplay from WRTI, in addition to regional venues and corporate events. Jazz Speak has also gained a presence of over 45 countries via the Internet after releasing “Jazz Speak Live” in 2003.

When not teaching, performing with Jazz Speak, or working as a sideman with other groups/ artists Woerner hosts Lancaster’s longest running open jazz sessions and also hosts a blues/ rock session every week.

Continuing to grow and learn as a musician and teacher, Woerner plans to reach new audiences and students all the time...
